Similarly, I've never understood folks waiting in a line to order food who then, after having 5 minutes or more in line, decide the best time to begin the decision-making process is when they are standing immediately in front of the person ready to take their order. "Oh, I don't know what I want..."

Slashdot looks broken on every browser.
All you had to do was scroll through the first page of your very own site before posting this.
Not sure why I came back here after being away for so long... it's still has fundamental issues in its editing.
Exactly. So someone found out that 3000+ Ring users used the same email and password that were used somewhere else that was leaked, and this is somehow Ring's fault? But most people only read the headline, so now the "fact" that Ring had a data leak is out there. Fake news indeed.
They are already doing this.
That was for the Second Death Star plans (Return of the Jedi).
Back in my day, graphing calculators were recommended but not required at my high school. The teachers had a curriculum that could teach these concepts without relying on tiny computers... I'm sure that could still be done.
I was one of the few who had the HP48g, which was fantastic and allowed me to learn RPN and some programming. The few of us who had this calculator would send programs to one another with the IR communication. For the early 90's this was pretty darn cool.
Perfect - get India and China to start doing something about it while you're at it.

Why do they bother even starting with such meaningless words?
It's the same as when I call a business and they say "your call is very important to us" and "sorry for the inconvenience". Those phrases have lost all authenticity.
The Porsche Mission-E concept (now the production Taycan) did not have side mirrors, but used cameras. But on the production car they had to mount actual mirrors. Having mandated backup cameras it's odd that DOT rules can't allow side cameras yet.
Boy, that brings back some memories. I was on those groups quite often; they were fantastic.
The type of transmission for me personally correlates to being a more engaged driver - more in control and paying attention to the surrounding environment. That was my point. I am more engaged and driving gets 100% of my focus.
I drive a manual transmission car and I swear it makes me a safer driver, and I feel safer in my car. The reason being, I am forced to pay attention at all times. I cannot have anything in my hands, and I need to pay attention to traffic far ahead to anticipate clutch / shifter action to minimize wear and tear.
All of these nanny controls just make drivers more willing to check the Facepage while driving.
Because we just vote for the person on our team (left vs. right, dem vs. repub) and don't care about the person at all, or their lack of qualifications.
Honestly, it's true. Tribalism is rampant. Issues don't actually matter anymore. All you have to do it look for "D" or "R" and cast your vote.
